PENGGUNAAN APLIKASI TIKTOK SEBAGAI PENYAMPAIAN INFORMASI TRAGEDI PEMBAKARAN HALTE SARINAH

Abstract

This study aims to see how the use of the TikTok application as an information guide on the Sarinah Bus Stop Arson tragedy. The theory used in this study is the new media theory to see the role of the TikTok application as a new media in disseminating information. This research was conducted with a qualitative descriptive approach using semiotic methods. Data collection techniques used are observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques were carried out by data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The data validity technique in this study is Data Source Triangulation. The research results obtained are the use of the TikTok application in gathering information on the Sarinah bus stop burning tragedy which is quite effective because the 62-minute video of the Sarinah bus stop burning operation on the Narasi Newsroom YouTube channel received many positive responses, especially comments regarding the use of TikTok as an information medium. As an information medium, TikTok can become a forum for the public to do citizen journalism. Because currently TikTok can be used as a media for citizen journalism, TikTok has begun to transform, which was originally just media entertainment, now it has become a new instrument for triggering information in the new media era.
