Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of implementing the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model using non-test instruments on third-grade students at SDN Gili Timur 2 in Indonesian language. The results showed that PBL successfully increased student engagement, critical thinking skills, and problem-solving abilities. Additionally, non-test assessments provided a more comprehensive picture of students' skill development compared to traditional test-based assessments. Although some challenges were identified, such as a lack of independent learning experience and optimal time management, overall, PBL proved to be effective in improving student learning outcomes, particularly in writing. This study concludes that PBL is a relevant and meaningful learning approach that can equip students with the skills needed in the 21st century.
