Abstract

Education is the foundation for the formation of national character which includes the development of intellectual and non-intellectual abilities, such as motivation to learn. This research aims to analyze the factors that influence the learning motivation of class VI students in learning mathematics at UPTD SDN Kendaban 1 Tanah Merah, both from intrinsic and extrinsic aspects and the teacher's efforts to increase this learning motivation. The research method used is qualitative with a case study design. Data collection techniques were obtained through direct observation, questionnaires and in-depth interviews with class teachers. The research results show that students' learning motivation is influenced by internal factors, such as lack of interest in learning and self-confidence, as well as external factors, such as lack of family support and social environment. Several efforts to increase learning motivation include the use of interactive media, giving awards, organizing heterogeneous study groups, and applying a variety of learning methods. The implementation of technology has also proven effective in increasing students' self-confidence and interest in mathematics. This research provides insight for teachers and parents about strategies to increase student learning motivation. These findings can be the basis for developing educational programs that are more effective in improving the quality of learning in elementary schools.
