One of the skills that a reliable human resource must have is literacy. This means that literacy skills (reading and writing) will be superior to oral skills (listening and speaking). Unfortunately, literacy skills, especially among primary school students in Indonesia, are relatively low. This is shown by the results of several PISA and PIRLS studies that show Indonesian students are ranked in the bottom five. Therefore, various efforts are needed to improve literacy skills in primary school students. Efforts to improve the literacy skills of primary school students include: habituation of 15 minutes of reading, creating a reading corner, giving rewards, and collaborating with parents. With good literacy skills, students can understand, retrieve and process the information received, but on the contrary, students with low literacy skills will find it difficult to develop their reasoning and critical thinking skills. The suggestion is that activities to improve elementary school students' literacy need to be implemented consistently because it takes a long time to build a good habit.
