Abstract

Listening is one of the activities carried out by someone to get new information or knowledge. The more often someone listens, the more information or knowledge is obtained. Therefore, listening skills need to be taught to children from an early age. However, there are still many elementary school students who often have difficulty in learning to listen. This can be seen from the low learning outcomes and the behaviour of students who are less enthusiastic in participating in listening learning. This literature review aims to determine the effect of using audiovisual media in improving the ability to listen to fairy tales in elementary school students. The method used is a literature study by reviewing relevant national articles from 2018 to 2023. There were 5 relevant articles analysed in accordance with the research objectives and problems of the literature study. The articles analysed were obtained from a search through Google Scholar, which focused on the keywords of listening skills, audio-visual media, and elementary school students. Based on the discussion of the results of the literature review of the 5 referenced articles, it can be concluded that the use of audio-visual media has a positive effect on learning outcomes and student behaviour in participating in listening to fairy tales. Therefore, in learning to listen teachers should use creative and innovative learning media. One of them is by using audio-visual media, so that students are interested and motivated in participating in the learning process.
