Abstract

This research aims to examine the role of facilities and infrastructure in supporting the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at MTsN 1 Kepulauan Sula. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, this research involves in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The results show that the condition of facilities and infrastructure at MTsN 1 Kepulauan Sula is not yet fully adequate to optimally support the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. Major limitations include limited internet access, inadequate ICT facilities, and inflexible learning spaces. Nevertheless, the school demonstrates creative efforts in optimizing existing resources, including utilizing the local environment as a learning resource and adapting learning methods to accommodate facility limitations. Optimization strategies include leveraging local resources, partnerships with external parties, innovations in space utilization, and teacher competency development. This research concludes that despite facing significant challenges, MTsN 1 Kepulauan Sula has successfully implemented key aspects of the Merdeka Curriculum through adaptive and innovative approaches. Recommendations include increasing infrastructure investment, developing adaptive facility and infrastructure models for archipelagic regions, and strengthening multi-stakeholder partnerships in educational facility development.
