Abstract

This study aims to improve the understanding of fiqh among seventh-grade students at MTsN 1 Kepulauan Sula through the application of the P5P2 RA approach (Discovery Learning, Problem Solving, Project-Based, Inquiry, and Realistic Applicative) within the context of the Merdeka Curriculum. Using a classroom action research method with a mixed-method approach, the study was conducted in two cycles, involving 30 students. The results show a 28% increase in students' fiqh understanding from pre-test to post-test in cycle II, with 86.7% of students achieving scores above the Minimum Competency Criteria. The implementation of P5P2 RA proved effective in increasing students' active engagement, developing critical thinking skills, and facilitating contextual learning. Implementation challenges in the archipelagic region were addressed through creative adaptations, such as utilizing local resources in learning. This approach also contributed to the development of moderate attitudes in religious practice. The successful implementation of P5P2 RA has important implications for fiqh curriculum development in 3T (Outermost, Frontier, Underdeveloped) regions, demonstrating its potential for wider application while considering local contexts.
