Abstract

 In this study, the method of school action research is used to explore the role of the head of school in improving the quality of teachers and learning in MTsN 1 Sula Islands. The study highlights the steps of action, ranging from the diagnosis of problems involving the identification of problem teachers in the performance of their basic tasks, to the implementation of follow-up plans through workshops, training, and evaluation of results. The findings suggest that supervision directed at the provision of guidance and services individually and in groups can have a positive impact in improving the skills and professionalism of teachers. This abstract summarizes the approach to school action research as an effective strategy in improving the quality of education with a focus on the guidance of the head of school for improving teacher quality in secondary schools.
