PENGGUNAAN MEDIA KARTU KATA DENGAN MENINGKATKAN KETERAMPILAN MEMBACA PERMULAAN PADA SISWA KELAS 1 SDN BULUH 3

This study aims to improve beginning reading skills by using word cards for grade 1 students of Buluh 3 Public Elementary School. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The research subjects were 29 grade 1 students consisting of 16 boys and 13 girls. The method in this study used a descriptive qualitative approach using data collection procedures through direct observation and interviews with teachers in schools. Research shows that students' initial reading skills improve both in terms of process and results by using word card media. The increase in reading skills in the first cycle increased by 45% to 69% in the second cycle. This increase can be seen from the value of the students' reading proportion of 24% (the initial condition of 45% increased to 69%). This has fulfilled the specified success requirements. Implementation of early reading learning actions using word card media with spelling syllables can make it easier for students to read. The use of various colors on word cards that involve students directly can make it easier for students to read correctly.
