Abstract

The case raised by the researcher is the difficulty of reading in class I students of SDN 060952 Medan Academic Year 2022/2023. Those who find an alternative in the case in the initial sentence, by first knowing the reading ability of class I students in SD NEGERI 060952.  Research using correlational quantitative methods.  Determination of the sample in this study using a total sampling technique, so that the number of samples is the same as the number of population, namely 24 students.  The data collection technique used was a reading ability questionnaire, while the analysis technique used was the linearity test and the product moment correlation test.  The determination of the research sample used the Total Sampling technique so that the population and sample had the same number, namely 24 grade I students at SD N 060952 Medan in the 2022/2023 academic year.  The results showed that: (1) there were some students who still had difficulty reading and pronouncing consonants;  (2) there are some that are still difficult to spell;  and (3) there are 2 students who still have difficulty knowing the alphabet.  Based on this data, the calculated value is 0.862, which is greater than the r table value, which is 0.2115, and the sig.  (2-tailed) which is 0.000 less than the value of α which is 0.05 so that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected.  Thus it can be proven that reading will be easy if it is trained and honed continuously.
