Abstract

Community participation in education includes the participation of individuals, groups, families, professional organizations, employers, and community organizations in the implementation and quality control of educational services. Communities can participate as sources, implementers, and users of educational outcomes. Based on this background, the issues discussed are: How is community participation in improving the quality of education at MTsN 2 Sula Islands and What are the Supporting and Inhibiting Factors for Community Participation in Improving the Quality of Education at MTsN 2 Sula Islands In this study using qualitative research. The purpose of this study is to find out how community participation improves the quality of education at MTsN 2 Sula Islands, and to find out how the supporting and inhibiting factors of community participation in improving the quality of education at MTsN 2 Sula Islands. The results of this study found community participation in improving school quality in MTsN 2 Kepulauan Sula, including participation in voluntary forms, decision making, thinking and financing. Factors supporting participation in MTsN 2 Kepulauan Sula are good relations with the school, high parental concern, high school commitment and good coordination with the school committee. The inhibiting factors for participation in MTsN 2 in the Sula Archipelago were that a small number of parents still did not understand and their parents had limited time because of their parents' busy work. The school's efforts to overcome obstacles at MTsN 2 Kepulauan Sula are good communication with parents, more explanations to parents and the implementation of school programs must be maximal and actively invite parents to participate.
