Tofu liquid waste generally has an acidic pH due to the presence of amino acids in soybean raw materials. Purpose: Reduction of Environmental Pollution: The main objective of using water hyacinth is to reduce the load of organic matter and nutrients in tofu wastewater. Compliance with Environmental Regulations: In many countries, including Indonesia, there are regulations and standards governing the quality of liquid waste that is permitted to be discharged into waters. Water Quality Improvement: Treating tofu wastewater using water hyacinth aims to improve overall water quality. Potential Utilization of Water Hyacinth: Water hyacinth is an invasive aquatic plant that can grow quickly and abundantly. Methods: Use of Phytoremediation, Aerobic Treatment with Water Hyacinth, Use of Constructed Wetland Systems, Use of Filtration with Water Hyacinth. Results: Water hyacinth can help reduce the COD content in tofu liquid waste through a phytoremediation process. Nutrient absorption by water hyacinth will reduce the load of organic matter in the waste, thereby reducing the COD content. Tofu liquid waste generally has an acidic pH due to the amino acids in soybean raw materials. The use of water hyacinth can help raise the pH of wastewater towards a more neutral condition. Odor Reduction Water hyacinth has adsorption and filtration capabilities that can help remove unwanted odors in tofu liquid waste. Color Reduction: Water hyacinth plants can also help reduce color in tofu wastewater
