Abstract

Educational supervision is a strategic element in the effort to develop professional and high-quality teaching personnel. The essence of supervision goes beyond administrative oversight; it also includes coaching, mentoring, and empowering teachers in carrying out their professional duties. This study aims to examine in depth the meaning and role of supervision in enhancing teacher competence, including pedagogical, professional, personal, and social aspects. The method used in this study is a literature review with a descriptive qualitative approach. The results show that effective, continuous, and collaborative supervision can create a conducive learning environment and support teachers’ professional growth. Ideal supervision is democratic, participatory, and oriented toward improving the quality of education. Therefore, strengthening the capacity of supervisors and developing a humanistic and reflective supervision system are urgent needs in the context of advancing educational human resources.
