PERAN PENDIDIKAN SENI BUDAYA DALAM MEMBANGUN KARAKTER SISWA DI MIS SANANA: PENDEKATAN PRAKTIK LAPANGAN. (SUATU PENELTIAN TINDAKAN KELAS)

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of arts and culture education in shaping students' character through a field-based approach at MIS Sanana, North Maluku. The research method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR), consisting of two cycles, each including stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the research were 30 students from grade V at MIS Sanana. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation, which were then analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively.The research findings indicated a significant improvement in the second cycle compared to the first cycle in terms of student engagement, understanding of character values, and the quality of the artworks produced. In the first cycle, students showed enthusiasm for the art activities, but their understanding of character values such as discipline, cooperation, and responsibility was still limited. After adjustments were made in the second cycle, including an emphasis on reflection and more structured guidance, students began to show a deeper understanding of the character values internalized through arts and culture activities.Quantitatively, the percentage of students who could identify character values increased from 40% in the first cycle to 85% in the second cycle. The students’ artworks also demonstrated improvements in creativity and reflection on moral and local cultural values. This study concludes that field-based arts and culture education, when combined with structured reflection, can be an effective medium for character building in students.
