Abstract

His thinking was influential in uniting fiqh and Sufism, as well as reducing tensions between fuqaha and Sufis. Al-Ghazali criticized kalam science for its complicated reasoning and considered that reason alone was not enough without intellectual intuition. He rejected several philosophical metaphysical teachings which were considered to be detrimental to aqeedah, but still acknowledged several philosophical doctrines in his work. In education, Al-Ghazali emphasized character development based on religious values, including intellectual and spiritual. His educational concept, which emphasizes moral and ethical education, remains relevant today. His works, such as "Ihya Ulum ad-Din" and "Tahafut Al-Falasifah," cover a wide range of scientific fields and continue to be important references in Islamic studies. Al-Ghazali spent the rest of his life teaching and writing at the madrasa and khanqah he founded in Thus, leaving a profound intellectual legacy for the Islamic world.
